ABOUT Go U

Amanda Rudolph Schwartz is the founder of Go U College Counseling, an independent college consulting firm based in Southern California and dedicated to helping students (and parents) navigate the constantly changing and nuanced landscape of college admissions. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a BA in English Literature, Amanda began her career as a writer, contributing to many publications including Los Angeles Magazine, InStyle, The New York Daily News, and Variety. Amanda helped launch E! Online where she found her niche covering coming-of-age television series. This familiarity with teen angst proved helpful when Amanda began tutoring neighborhood kids in English and leading writing workshops. As these kids grew up, Amanda grew with them and provided guidance for college admission essays. Amanda’s love of writing combined with an eagerness to help adolescents find their voices provided the framework for a new career. She earned a College Counseling Certificate from UCLA and began a full-time practice in 2018. She has helped guide students and families through the process of finding colleges that fit their academic, social, and financial needs. Amanda is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). She is dedicated to continuing her own education, is a member of several professional groups, and participated in the inaugural College Essay Guy Advanced Counselor Retreat. Amanda is a mom to her own coming-of-agers while she, too, writes a new coming-of-a-certain-age story of her own.
